Four Words You Never Want to Hear: “I’m Sorry, It’s Cancer”
Agalia Baker of Russellville was an advanced practice nurse working in women’s health when she was surprised by her own breast cancer diagnosis. The emotional journey that followed was often witnessed by Sam Makhoul, M.D. – medical oncologist and CARTI Medical Director – who encouraged Agalia to share her experience. Which she did.
Agalia wrote a book called “If Cancer is a Gift, Can I Return It” (including a foreword by Dr. Makhoul!) to break down the emotional trauma of a cancer diagnosis. Hear more from Agalia and Dr. Makhoul in their recent interview on KARK’s Arkansas Style segment.
