A traditional 2D mammogram allows doctors to see the front and back of the breast. This provides a very limited view of the breast, as important abnormalities don’t always present themselves only at the front and back of the breast. With 3D mammography, technologists at The Breast Center at CARTI are able to break the image down into layers and get a more complete look at the breast.
